Why Should I Video My Pain?

(A) Because Pain Is Real & the General Public Needs to be Educated on the Chronic Pain Epidemic!

Because pain is REAL and the number of chronic pain sufferers in the United States is staggering.  Chronic pain is often hard to quantify because it is so subjective, but there is NO doubt that chronic pain is a national epidemic.

Unlike acute pain, which lasts temporarily, chronic pain is persistent and the pain signals continue for weeks, months or even years.

According to VITAMEI, the number of people in the United States affected by chronic pain is staggering. Chronic pain is often hard to quantify because it is so subjective, but the numbers below prove this is a national epidemic.

1) 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain. This is according to a study conducted by the Institute of Medicine of The National Academies.

2) Chronic pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined.

3) Three out of four Americans have either personally experienced chronic pain or have a close family member or friend who has, according to a survey conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates.

4) The most likely people to report pain lasting more than 24 hours are adults aged 45-64 years, while adults 65 and over were the least likely.

5) A study by the National Institutes of Health found one in 10 Americans experienced pain every day for three months.

6) Chronic pain isn’t just an American epidemic; over 1.5 billion people worldwide suffer from chronic pain.

(B) The General Public Needs to Empathize With What Chronic Pain Sufferers Deal With Daily

You will NEVER get another human being to empathize with your situation, be it physical or otherwise, if you cannot properly explain it in descriptive terms that are meaningful, and purposefully thought through for the other party to rightfully understand.

Hence your video testimonial. We purposefully instruct all chronic pain sufferers who plan to video themselves NOT to mention their ailments, diagnosis or illness. Rather, EXPLAIN EXACTLY WHAT YOUR PAIN FEELS LIKE

This will be the breakthrough; it will be the way to get your viewer to understand what your pain feels  like and WHY pain medication is so vital to your quality of life.

(C) The False Narrative Regarding a US “Opioid Epidemic” is Just that — FALSE! We must educate!

CDC blames prescription medication as the reason for the epidemic, this is absolutely false.

The reason chronic pain sufferers are getting forgotten about, is because of the false narrative smeared all over the media that opiate prescriptions are to blame for this false “opiate epidemic“ in this country. What is causing these overdoses is the illicit Fentanyl drug trade, where Fentanyl is being laced in many drugs, mostly Heroin, and many have overdosed or died as a result. That’s what is causing the overdoses — not prescribed medications. Overdoses are still increasing while opioid prescriptions are at 10-year low.

Legitimate opioids doses can vary by a factor of 100 (yes, literally) between individual patients in their individual situations, with their individual body chemistry, individual metabolic abilities, and their tolerance to pain, their weight, ect. It is absolutely ludicrous to set a 90 morphine milligram equivalent (MME) for EVERY SINGLE CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT!  IT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE WHATSOEVER!

Because of this, we must let the general public know this, and what a better way than to give your own testimonial advocating for the proper dosage of pain medication you so rightfully deserve?
